Final App Description
The CyberHub app is created with the hard work and dedication from our Advanced Web Design class here in Brooklyn Studio. Being introduced to new technology and programs, our students were quickly able to adapt and work with these new and fascinating programs such as Unity, Photoshop, Layar and more. With our students working in designated teams and through their determined effort, they, the students, have managed to create something wondrous. Although our students have faced many challenges in the processes of creating the app, they’ve managed to pull through and find solutions. The app couldn’t have been created without the help of two important people: Our teacher, Ms. Karen Mason and our Director, Mr. Ross Cohen. With their guidance to the students, they’ve helped our students piece together this app. With this app, we’ve shown other teachers and students the potential of this new technology-based learning because as we enter in an era of technology that's constantly changing, why not change how we educate our students? Join us as Brooklyn Studio enters the Mixed Reality experience!

What is this?
The item you hold is called the Hololens or the Microsoft Hololens, as it was built and engineered by Microsoft. The Hololens is similar to the Oculus Rift but has many contrasting features that makes it outstanding than the Oculus Rift. The Hololens does not need to be connected to any device for it to work as it contains its own powerful computing system; the only connection the Hololens will need is a Wifi connection. The Hololens also shows the user holographic images with which the user can interact with. This is the big contrasting feature the Hololens has to offer. Unlike the Oculus Rift, where the user wears the gear and interacts with a exotic world unlike the real world, the Hololens allows the user to connect with the virtual world while also being in the real world simultaneously. This feature is not called Virtual reality or Augmented reality but rather has its own unique name; Mixed reality, connecting the two worlds of technology and reality to bring the user a new and innovating experience in the world of the Hololens.
Is it safe to use?
The Hololens is safe to use; it's advised that the Hololens should be used in doors for a safer experience. The Hololens, as mentioned before, shows the user both the virtual and real world together. With most of the focus being on the virtual aspect, users are still able to see the real world and their environment around them. This prevents the user from injuring themselves or causing themselves to be in serious danger. However, the user MUST be aware of their surroundings while using the Hololens. The lenses are transparent, so the user can see right through them. The amazing thing about the lenses is that they have a similar function to the human eye. As light passes through our eyes and into our retinas, we can clearly see the world; the lenses on the Hololens works identically by using light to display the images in the Hololens. This method is much more secure as it doesn’t bring any serious harm to the users eyes. The Hololens also comes with attachable pieces which you place on the resting section for the nose of the Hololens. This allows the gear stays in place while keeping it easy and comfortable to use. The gears headband is adjustable, so it can adjust to any user's head size. Although the gears headband has a good grip on the users head, to prevent it from falling, the headband is also comfortable so it won’t bring any discomfort to the users head.
How long should use I the Hololens?
Although the Hololens can be used up to an estimated 2.5 hours for ongoing use, it is advised that the user does not wear the gear for too long. The user should take the gear off once in awhile to make sure they don’t have any issues with their eyesight. It’s also advised that the user take small breaks from the Hololens to let their eyes rest.
What are the side effects?
There have not been any serious side effects found or reported by using the Hololens, as it is still new in the market, users are still advise to small breaks from the Hololens.
What languages can the Hololens display?
Currently, the Hololens can only display English.
What is so significant about the Hololens and why should I buy it?
The most significant aspect about the Hololens is that it’s a new innovative way of teaching and educating students by utilizing holograms. Holograms are light-projected images that can be viewed at any angle or distance which allows for easy viewability for users. Not only does the Hololens introduces students to the world of mixed reality, it also shows them how interesting the Computer Arts area is and it can inspire students to be in this field.
Where can I buy the Hololens?
The Hololens can be bought directly from the Microsoft website by going to “Store” > “Devices” > “Virtual Reality”.
What comes with the Hololens when I purchase it?
Regardless of which edition of the Hololens you purchase, the Hololens will come with…
Microsoft HoloLens
Clicker
Carrying Case
Microfiber cloth
Charger
How much does the Hololens cost?
The “Microsoft Hololens Development Edition” is priced at $3,000.00. Luckily, it comes with free shipping.
How do I interact with the holograms?
You can interact with the holograms in multiple ways; either through hand gestures, voice command, with the clicker (which comes with the Hololens when your purchase the gear) or just by looking at them. The user learns different hand gestures and voice commands which is taught by the Hololens.
